The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) is located on Kettner Blvd. in downtown San Diego. MCASD has recorded art history with its collections and exhibitions for more than 50 years.
Open from 11 AM to 5 Pm from Thursday to Tuesday the MCASD offers free admission to members of the military and their families and students who are 25 and younger. Students over 25 and seniors, enjoy a stroll around the sky lit gallery for only $5.00, and don’t forget to bring your ID when you visit. With over 4,000 works of art, the MCASD’s gallery continues to be popular, interesting and educational. Popular and talented artists have created a variety of beautiful works of photography, sculpture, video and painting for your enjoyment.
When visiting the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego be sure to take advantage of one of its many educational programs. Don’t forget to attend Xcerpts: The Goddess on March 1st and enjoy exhibitions that include Phenomenal: California Light, Space and Surface on display through May, 2012 and view artist, Isaac Julien’s Ten Thousand Waves that is on display through December of this year. MCASD also welcomes its guests to enjoy the opening of Iconic: MCASD on March 15th from 5 PM to 7 PM. You can walk through the gallery with the museums curator and get first hand knowledge of the artists, their lives and their works. You’ll learn about the creative process and installation of their exhibitions with a personalized tour with the museum curator.
